Silvia Riera is a psychologist and therapist originally from Barcelona, currently based in Ireland, with almost two decades of experience supporting children, adolescents, young adults, and families across a wide range of settings. Her work has included emergency foster care, disability services, guardianship support, family contact centres, community mental health projects, and therapeutic support services for young people.

Silvia began working with children and families at the age of 14 through babysitting, educational support, and leisure activities. These early experiences sparked a lifelong interest in emotional wellbeing, neurodiversity, family dynamics, and the importance of safe and supportive communities.

After completing her Degree in Psychology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Silvia specialised in Systemic Family Therapy and later qualified as a General Health Psychologist in Spain. Over the years, she has worked extensively with neurodivergent children and adolescents, young people experiencing anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, family conflict, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, identity exploration, and the effects of difficult life experiences.

Before moving to Ireland in 2021, Silvia worked independently supporting autistic children and adolescents and their families within their everyday environments, collaborating closely with schools and multidisciplinary teams to improve communication, emotional understanding, social connection, and overall quality of life.

Since relocating to Ireland, Silvia has worked with the ISPCC as a Therapeutic Support Worker, providing one-to-one support for children and adolescents aged 5–18. She has also worked closely with parents and caregivers to strengthen relationships, improve communication, and support emotional connection within families.

In addition to her therapeutic work, Silvia has continued her professional development through specialist training in developmental trauma, Internal Family Systems (IFS), early intervention, and integrative adolescent psychotherapy.

Silvia currently offers private therapy and support for adolescents and young adults aged 13–25, alongside family therapy and parent support. Her approach is compassionate, relational, and neurodiversity-affirming, with a strong focus on creating a safe, collaborative space where young people can express themselves openly, build emotional understanding, and develop healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.

As someone who is part of the LGBTQIA+ community and deeply interested in culture, identity, creativity, and human connection, Silvia brings openness, curiosity, and authenticity into her work. Outside of therapy, she enjoys nature, photography, music, art, and spending time outdoors observing wildlife and walking in the woods.
